EPIC Management and Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center Finalizing Pending Partnership

November 04, 2009

LOMA LINDA, CA – November 4, 2009 – Executives of EPIC Management and Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center (LLUAHSC) are pleased to announce that they have reached agreement on preliminary terms regarding a formal business relationship. Both organizations will be combining their strengths to enhance the overall delivery of healthcare to surrounding communities in the Inland Empire.

“We believe this is a great strategic alignment of two quality organizations,” says Mel Sauder, Sr. Vice President of Development and Public Affairs for LLUAHSC.  “The strengths of both organizations provide a natural synergy that will serve the greater Inland Empire as the population continues to expand. The partnership will also be of tremendous value in light of healthcare reform that is expected to come out of Washington later this year.”

“Our affiliation with Loma Linda creates an excellent opportunity to develop a more effective regional healthcare system through greater cooperation among physicians and hospitals, better use of common resources, and improved coordination of medical care,” comments John Goodman, President of EPIC Management. “EPIC supports community physicians so they can focus on their patients without the distraction of the business side of their practice in an increasingly complex environment. This alliance is an important element in our strategy to blend the scope and scale benefits of a collaborative regional healthcare system with the personal care that starts in the physician’s local medical office.”

LLUAHSC, (the umbrella organization for LLUMC, Loma Linda University, and the Loma Linda University Clinical Faculty corporations), and EPIC Management representatives have been in negotiations over the past several months to define a formal business relationship between their respective organizations. EPIC Management provides management and consulting services to Southern California physician groups and IPAs, including Beaver Medical Group, Pinnacle Medical Group, Redlands Yucaipa Medical Group and Inland Women's Care Associates. The parties anticipate that final details will be worked out over the next few weeks and that the transaction will be complete by early 2010.
