Job Description
The Answering Service Operator I works under general
supervision to operate the central communications center so that all telephone
calls and paging are processed promptly; and service as the "first
line" in customer services and public relations. May be assigned to take all incoming calls
after hours; answer all basic questions regarding directions, and cancel
appointments; and locating doctors on call or referred medically related calls
to the triage nurse.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. One year telephone
or switchboard experience required along with computer experience and telephone
etiquette. Prior experience with the McKesson patient information system
preferred. Excellent public relations skills and strong commitment to customer
service; typing requirement of 25 – 30wpm accurately. Must have the ability to
work in high stress environment and independently with strong attention to
detail; and to anticipate needs and solve problems.
