EPIC Signs New Medical Group

EPIC Management has signed a management services contract with a new client, Chaffey Medical Group. This is a newly formed group comprised of 24 Primary Care Physicians and a psychiatrist.
“We are excited to be working with this new group of leading primary physicians in the communities of Western San Bernardino County,” said Duane Whittington, VP of Network Development at EPIC Management.
EPIC is currently finishing the process of credentialing all of the physicians and finalizing their health plan contracts that will be effective on September 1, 2013. The group is newly formed, and marketing is starting to develop a strategic plan as well as website and materials for the group. EPIC will also provide claims, finance and quality/utilization management services.
The founders of the group are Dr. Kommineni, an internist who has practiced in the area for 30 years; Dr. Silao, a family medicine physician with 20 years practice experience who has also served as a Medical Director; and Dr. Reddy, a psychiatrist who is also a certified coder. They formed the group to be the only medical group in the area that is owned and operated by practicing physicians themselves. They recruited other physicians to join the group who have the option to be a shareholder in the group if they desire. Their goal is to help the physicians focus on patient care and get rid of onerous paperwork. Dr. Silao added, “We believe in excellence and integrity, but above all compassion.”
The doctors with Chaffey Medical Group have individual offices located throughout the communities of Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Chino, Fontana, Chino Hills, Norco, Montclair, Ontario and Pomona. They also have two urgent care centers and are affiliated with San Antonio Community Hospital. The physicians currently have contracts with health plans through other management groups. As their other contracts expire, patients will transition over to the new health plan contracts through EPIC.
