EPIC Opens New Oasis Location for Beaver Medical Group

June 15, 2009

On June 15, 2009, Beaver Medical Group’s new Eye Care and Rheumatology Center opened its doors at the Oasis Medical Plaza. The plaza is located near Terracina Boulevard at 1690 Barton Road, Redlands 92373.

“The opening of a Beaver medical office at Oasis Medical Plaza is another important milestone in our mission to expand and improve the medical services we provide in our Redlands community. The opening last fall of Beaver’s new Redlands Urgent Care Center, the new office at Oasis and the soon to be completed expansion of Cardiology, Pulmonology and Radiology at 2 West Fern are all part of our plan to better serve Redlands and surrounding communities,” said Duane Whittington, VP of Network Development of EPIC Management.

This opening continues a large expansion for Beaver Medical Group that started with the opening of Beaver Advantage Health Center in Redlands during 2006. Later that year the Banning Primary Care Center opened, followed by the Yucaipa Valley.  Construction is currently underway for the primary care office suite at the new Highland Springs Medical Plaza in Beaumont, which will open July 6, 2009.

“We are fortunate to grow during an economic downturn. We’ve built during a recession before – we saved a million dollars in construction at the Highland facility in 1996 because of the downturn at that time,” said Fred Hollaus, COO of EPIC.

Hollaus designs the layout of the medical suites to make sure they are functional for patient care. He also supervises construction. “I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights, but Oasis opened on time. I am blessed to be involved – it really is a thrill.”

Beaver Medical Group’s suite at the Oasis Medical Plaza encompasses the entire second floor with 12,000 square feet of space. The beautiful plaza was recently constructed with views of the mountains and valley. The Rheumatology care team area includes three exam rooms and a Dexa Scan which determines bone density throughout the body. The Ophthalmologists and Optometrists have 16 exam rooms with new refractive equipment, and rooms for an eye laser, auto-refractive testing, peripheral vision testing and an eye procedure room. In addition, a large optical shop is connected to the lobby. “Our space is expanded with more room for designer frames and space to work. The decor of the building is beautiful with easy access parking for the patients,” said Tom Swantek, Optical Supervisor.

Beaver Medical Group providers who moved from the main Redlands facility at 2 West Fern to the Oasis Medical Plaza are: Neil Jamron, MD, Gilbert Putnoky, MD, Steven Rimmer, MD, Dr. Michael Yoon, Jay Kemmerer, OD, Shawna Lehmann, OD, and Thomas Steinman, OD. They will also continue to practice at other facilities and the Optical Shops will remain open at Yucaipa, Colton and Banning. Eye care services and Rheumatology are no longer offered at the Redlands main facility. As the eye care providers and optical shop see a high volume of patients every day, a good amount of parking spaces has been freed up at the Redlands main facility.

The phone numbers will remain the same: patients may call the Redlands Main line at (909) 793-3311 to be transferred to the Eye Care Center and Rheumatology, or may call the Eye Care Center appointment line directly at (909) 335-4112.
