Job Description

The Sonographer works under the direction of the Sono Supervisor and protocols required by the radiologists. The Sonographer is able to work with limited over site but will reach out to supervisor or fellow sonographers for assistance. The Sonographer works in a team environment and has good customer service skills including empathy, encouragement and is able to work with a diverse population. The Sonographer is comfortable in the use of computers including various ultrasound equipment. Sonographer I: Performs general diagnostic ultrasound procedures based on established departmental protocols and procedures. Performs vascular procedures under the supervision of a Sonographer II. Sonographer II: Performs ultrasound and vascular procedures based on established departmental protocols and procedures.


High School Diploma or equivalent. Ultrasound Technology, training and experience in the specialty areas to be performed. Sonographer I: New graduate to a minimum of three years of experience as a staff Sonographer performing a variety of procedures. Current BLS (AHA) certification. RDMS in OB/GYN or ABD upon hire, required certification within nine (9) months from date of hire. RVT certification preferred. Sonographer II: Three or more years of staff experience performing a variety of diagnostic sonographic procedures, including RVT certification. Current BLS (AHA) certification and RDMS in OB/GYN and/or ABD and RVT.
