The Telephone Triage Registered Nurse II works
independently overnight to systematically triage a caller’s symptoms by
utilizing approved physician protocols.
The Registered Nurse incorporates the steps of the nursing process to
gather information necessary to assess the patient’s/callers problem via the
telephone interview and then provides advice to the caller regarding home care
or further follow up. Uses the computer
station to document the call appropriately and faxes the encounter to the
appropriate place. Assists physicians
with patient teaching, pharmacy refills and call backs. Assists all heath care
providers/facilities. Excellent nursing judgment and communication skills are
required for this position.
School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Current CA RN license; Current BLS. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred;
Five or more recent years as an RN with a broad spectrum of clinical
experience. ER/critical care/Pediatrics/Med/Surg highly desirable. Home Health
or case management experience highly desirable. Computer literacy and typing
skills required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
to handle stressful situations; to
multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner; to work quickly,
accurately and independently; and, to anticipate needs and solve problems.
