Job Description
The
Telephone Triage Registered Nurse II works independently after close of normal business hours to
triage a caller’s symptoms by utilizing approved physician
protocols. The Registered Nurse
incorporates the steps of the nursing process to gather information necessary
to assess the patient’s/callers problem via the telephone interview and then
provides advice to the caller regarding home care or further follow up. Uses the computer station to document the
call appropriately and faxes the encounter to the appropriate place. Assists physicians with patient teaching,
pharmacy refills and call backs. Assists all heath care providers/facilities.
Excellent nursing judgment and communication skills are required for this
position.
Qualifications
Graduation
from an accredited school of nursing. Five or more recent years as an
RN with a broad spectrum of clinical experience. ER/critical
care/Pediatrics/Med/Surg and Home Health or Case Management experience is
preferred. Current State of California RN licensure. Current CPR (American
Heart Association) certificates.
Specialty certifications preferred. Computer literacy and typing skills
required. Excellent written, verbal
and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organization skills. Knowledge
of and skill in accepted medical practice and good medical assessment skills.
Personal skills include, but not limited to, patient teaching, organizational
abilities, interpersonal relationships, listening, interviewing, leadership and
aptitude. Ability to handle stressful
situations; to multi-task in an
efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner; to work quickly, accurately and
independently; and, to anticipate needs and solve problems.
