Job Description

The RN Charge nurse is a function of the Registered Nurse I/II in the Urgent Care Department when the Nurse Manager is not on-schedule.  Not all RN’s in the UCC will function in this role; in fact, Charge Nurses are appointed via the schedule by the Nurse Manager.  No more than one Charge Nurse is approved for any shift wherein the Nurse Manager is not scheduled.


High School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current CA RN license; Current BLS. ACLS certification must be obtained within 90days of hire. PALS Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred; Six months of RN experience. Two of more years RN experience; ambulatory care or acute care experience preferred. Computer literacy and typing skills required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to handle stressful situations; to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner; to work quickly, accurately and independently; and, to anticipate needs and solve problems.
