The Payment Entry
Specialist works under general supervision to
perform payment entry duties involving settlement of patient accounts and related clerical
activities including posting patient and
third party payments and adjustments; and balancing daily batches.
The Payment Entry Specialist is responsible for maintaining a
positive working relationship with patients, staff and
third parties; representation of the organization in a professional manner; and, keeping
the assigned supervisor apprised of work
product/projects status on a routine basis.
Diploma or equivalent. One-year general clerical experience in a medical
setting. Two or more years clerical office experience in a medical office or
health care performing financial transactions and working with insurance
companies preferred. Skill at performing ten-key calculations at least 175 wpm.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of
CPT and ICD-9 codes; excellent eye-hand coordination is required; detail
oriented; knowledge of insurance payors, tape remittance and a basic
understanding of accounts receivable software.
Good working knowledge and intermediate/advanced use of Word, Excel, Outlook
& the Internet.
