Licensed Vocational Nurse assumes responsibility for routine to increasingly
more complex and comprehensive patient care procedures and processes under the
regulatory scope of the California PTLVN nurse practice act, and the floating
component contained in the duties. LVN’s practice their duties in various
clinical settings, and some areas require advanced levels and types of
technical certifications, independence of judgment and decision making; and,
skills and abilities to provide physician support and patient education, carry
out established procedures, development and updating of operational protocols,
liaison and recordkeeping requirements and conditions, and preparation of data,
information and/or reports through use of computer applications.
Graduation from an accredited LVN school of
nursing or have completed coursework allowing candidate to challenge the VN
Board of Nursing and attain LVN designation. Current State of California
licensure, Current BLS/ACLS, and IV/Phlebotomy certification required. Non-Certified IV candidates
will be considered, but must obtain certification within 6 months of hire or
preferred. May potentially float to other clinics within the organization if
needed. Must possess two (2) or
more years of experience as an LVN, AND have demonstrated performance
and competency in at least 2 separate clinical specialty disciplines (i.e.
Pediatrics, ENT, OB/GYN, UCC, Dermatology, Surgery, etc.), and have
demonstrated proficiency in the administrative and clinical functions. Three or
more years of experience can count as one discipline.
