Job Description

The UM Nurse Supervisor/Educator oversees and coordinates all clinical activities of UM Pre-Service and Inpatient nursing staff in collaboration with the UM Executive Director, the CMO, and the client Medical Directors. Oversees an effective orientation and comprehensive education program for all new and existing nursing staff within the Utilization Management Department. Coordinates with the UM Executive Director, the CMO, the UM Administrative Manager, and the UM Operations Manager to identify required competencies and key performance indicators for the nursing staff and develop training/education programs around identified areas of opportunity. 



High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Current California RN license required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare related field or current equivalent related work experience preferred. Two years clinical experience as an RN in an acute care or ambulatory care setting required. Two or more years of experience in an IPA/Medical Group or healthcare in a managed care environment with experience in both inpatient and pre-service case management. One year experience in program development in a managed care environment. Must have working knowledge of guidelines and regulations relevant to case management and utilization management, including Medicare, DMHC, NCQA, and Milliman Care Guidelines. Principles and practices of health care, health care systems, and medical administration. Must be proficient in the application and use of all Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook with the ability to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position assignment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
