The Orthopedic Technician assists physicians and professional nursing personnel in the care and treatment of patients with orthopedic needs in the outpatient setting. Assists with the application and removal of casts and other Orthopedic devices and performs other related duties as required. Coordinates all technical work related to the performance of orthopedic functions in the Orthopedic department such as casting, splinting and assisting with orthopedic procedures. Maintains the cast room and the orthopedic equipment.
Orthopedic Technician I – High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited Orthopedic Technologist Training program preferred. Six months of experience as an Orthopedic Technologist or graduation from an accredit Orthopedic Technologist program. One or more year’s experience in an outpatient orthopedic clinic as an Orthopedic Technologist preferred. BLS certification required. Current Registered Orthopedic Technologist certification or National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologist is required. Orthopedic Technician II – High School Diploma or equivalent and graduation certificate from an accredited Orthopedic Technician program or equivalent training. Must possess BLS certification and National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists certification. Two years experience in an outpatient orthopedic clinic required. Three or more years experience in an outpatient orthopedic clinic preferred. May be required to float to various locations. Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.
