The Orthopedic Technician assists physicians and professional nursing personnel in the care and treatment of patients with orthopedic needs in the outpatient setting. Assists with the application and removal of casts and other Orthopedic devices and performs other related duties as required. Coordinates all technical work related to the performance of orthopedic functions in the Orthopedic department such as casting, splinting and assisting with orthopedic procedures. Maintains the cast room and the orthopedic equipment.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduation
from an accredited Orthopedic Technician program or equivalent
training, and must possess National Board of Orthopedic
Technologies certification. BLS certification required. Two years experience in
an outpatient orthopedic clinic. Three or more years experience in an
outpatient clinic preferred. Must be proficiently skilled in the
application and use of Windows, the Internet and other programs as determined
by site or department. Ability to communicate
effectively both verbally and in writing; to work compatibly with physicians,
other department members, and clinic employees in other departments. To work
quickly, accurately and independently.
