Job Description

 

The Mammography Technologist positions patients to ensure that the best images of breast tissue are achieved.  The Technologist is responsible for adjusting settings depending on the density of breast tissue and concentrates on areas that have an abnormal appearance.  The Technologist must comfort and reassure patients in an effort to make them feel comfortable during what can be an uncomfortable procedure. This job requires hands-on positioning and can be physically demanding at times. Keeping radiation exposure to a minimum while still getting adequate views of tissue is also an integral part of the Mammography Technologist's job.

 

Qualifications

 

Successful completion of a training program in Radiologic Technology and successful completion of Mammography training. No experience required. Two years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology and one year of experience in Mammography preferred. CRT certification with the State of California Department of Public Health/Radiologic Health Branch for Radiography Fluoroscopy, and Mammography Certifications, ARRT (R)(M), BLS certification (American Heart Association). Must have the ability to operate all imaging and processing equipment using proper technique and demonstrate the ability to operate and train staff on all equipment.
