Job Description
The Licensed Vocational Nurse assumes responsibility
for routine to increasingly more complex and comprehensive patient care
procedures and processes under the regulatory scope of the California PTLVN
nurse practice act, and the floating component contained in the duties. LVN’s
practice their duties in various clinical settings, and some areas require
advanced levels and types of technical certifications, independence of judgment
and decision making; and, skills and abilities to provide physician support and
patient education, carry out established procedures, development and updating
of operational protocols, liaison and recordkeeping requirements and
conditions, and preparation of data, information and/or reports through use of
computer applications.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited
LVN school of nursing or have completed coursework allowing candidate to
challenge the VN Board of Nursing and attain LVN designation. Current State of
California licensure, BLS certification required (American Heart
Association). IV/Phlebotomy, ACLS/PALS
certifications preferred. Non-Certified IV candidates for departments providing
conscious sedation (not including Urgent Care) will be considered but must
obtain certification with 6 months of hire or transfer. Bilingual preferred. LVN I - new
graduate; over one year experience along with additional experience in acute
care or ambulatory care nursing preferred.
LVN II – Two years of experience as a practicing LVN; over two
years of experience in acute or ambulatory care nursing preferred.
